Discernment
Persons who feel attracted by this way of
life and think that it might be for them normally write to the house and
are invited for a short visit or two - often after a time of correspondence
or telephone conversations. If the interest remains, a longer visit or
"live-in" is suggested.
If it still seems likely that this might
be the way one is called to live one enters into the more formal periods
of initiation into the life - a pre-novitiate period of six to twelve months,
the novitiate - of normally two years; a time of temporary vows; and finally
preparation for permanent vows.
